The Orsay Museum (french Musée d’Orsay) is undoubtedly one of the most important museums in Paris.
It is located in the 7th arrondissement on the left side of the river Seine (rive gauche) along the homonymous quay.
In the Orsay museum are exposed paintings and sculptures, which were created mainly in France and more widely in Western Europe during a period ranging from the Revolution of 1848 to the beginning of the First World War 1914.
Above all it is considered the “home” of the Impressionists, since the largest collection of Impressionists worldwide is hosted there. You can admire paintings by famous painters like Claude Monet (over 70 paintings), Renoir, Sisley, van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Degas, Gauguin, Cézanne and many more.
The particularity of this museum consists in the fact that the building was not built for this purpose, but it used to be a train station.
